You pay by the hour for a preconfigured Apache ActiveMQ Classic image running on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. Pricing is not tiered by features; every option delivers the same software. Instead, you choose an EC2 instance type, and the hourly rate scales with that instance's size and family. Options span burstable t2 and t3 families for lighter workloads, general-purpose m4 through m7 families, and larger sizes up to metal instances for heavier compute, memory, storage, or network needs. You only pay for the hours each instance runs, so cost tracks your chosen size and uptime.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I actually receive when I launch one of these hourly instances?
You get a preconfigured machine image running Apache ActiveMQ Classic on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. The software is the same across every instance type. What changes is the underlying EC2 hardware you select, which sets its CPU, memory, storage, and network capacity.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped or paused?
Software charges meter running hours only. A fully stopped instance stops accruing the hourly software fee. You may still pay separate AWS charges for attached storage while the instance is stopped, but that is billed by AWS, not by this listing's hourly rate.
What decides my hourly rate when the software is identical across instances?
Your rate is driven entirely by the EC2 instance type you pick. Burstable t2 and t3 families cost less per hour than general-purpose m4 through m7 families. Larger sizes and metal instances carry higher hourly rates. Your bill equals the chosen rate multiplied by hours run.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources.
