Overview
The Relational Database Migration to AWS RDS – Smart Recovery service enables customers to migrate their relational databases from on-premises environments or other public clouds to AWS RDS, Amazon's managed database service.
GBM supports the entire process across four phases: preparation, planning, migration, and optimization. During the preparation phase, we assess technical feasibility, compatibility, and connectivity requirements. In the planning phase, we define the most suitable migration strategy considering downtime, bandwidth, and dependencies. The migration phase involves creating the destination RDS instances, transferring data, and validating results. Finally, in operation and optimization, we perform fine-tuning, documentation, and knowledge transfer to the customer.
The service covers homogeneous migrations for engines such as Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MariaDB to their AWS RDS equivalents, using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) or native tools. It also includes guidance on network configuration, security, monitoring, and AWS best practices.
Designed to minimize risk and downtime, this service simplifies data infrastructure modernization and improves operations with AWS managed services.
