One hour maps to one running EC2 instance of the type you launch. The software charge meters wall-clock runtime for that single instance. If you run several instances, each accrues its own hourly charge. The rate reflects the CPU and memory of the size you pick.
The software charge meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue AlmaLinux 8 hourly charges. You may still pay underlying AWS fees for attached storage while stopped. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
Each size within a family carries set CPU, memory, and, for GPU or accelerated types, extra hardware. Sizes run from nano and micro up to 24xlarge. Larger sizes add compute resources and cost more per hour. You match the size to your workload's demand.
