- kubelet: the component that runs on all of the machines in your cluster and does things like starting pods and containers.

One hour reflects each hour a chosen Amazon EC2 instance runs with the machine image installed. Billing meters running time per instance. If you run several instances, each accrues its own hourly charge. The rate matches the instance type you launched.
The software charge meters running time only. A stopped instance does not accrue software fees. Underlying AWS charges, such as storage for the attached volume, may still apply while the instance is stopped. Software billing resumes when you start the instance again.
Your rate follows the instance type you select. To handle more compute or memory, launch a larger instance family, which carries a different hourly rate. You can also run additional instances, each billed separately per hour. There is no upfront commitment, so you adjust as needs change.
