Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
Version release notes

Usage Instructions for Packer:
Open Putty for SSH and type ubuntu as username (For reference: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/putty.html ) Now, type in below command to verify that the packer is available: packer You will get the list of available commands for testing. Thats it! We now have successfully installed Packer on our Ubuntu server. Enjoy the application!!
