PolecatX - Strategic External Risk Intelligence Platform

     Info
PolecatX takes the world's external data, from news, regulators, earnings calls, social media, NGOs and academic research, and makes sense of it for your business. Every event is scored for severity, velocity and credibility against almost twenty years of history and calibrated to your risk definitions, so leaders can see which external risks are emerging, where they are heading and how they compare with peers.

    Overview

See around corners with external risk intelligence

PolecatX turns that external data into risk intelligence made for your business. Risk leaders can see which emerging risks are building, how serious they are and where they are heading, while there is still time to act.

Already trusted by: Aon, UBS, Unilever, WTW, Marsh, Wendy's, Kenvue, Marriott, Lockton and more.

    How PolecatX works

    1. We read the world's external data. Every second, Polecat collects news and trade media, regulatory and policy updates, earnings calls and company filings, social media, and research from NGOs, think tanks and academics.

    2. We score and project, using twenty years of data. Coverage of the same development is grouped into a single event and scored for severity, velocity and source credibility. Because Polecat has scored events consistently for almost twenty years, every new event is measured against how similar risks have emerged, escalated and recovered before. That history is what allows Polecat to project where a risk is heading, with a scenario outlook up to six months ahead.

    3. You see what matters, early. Calibrated to your risk definitions, thresholds and peers, PolecatX scans the horizon for the regulatory, geopolitical, ESG, supply chain, reputational and market risks relevant to your business. You know which are building and which are fading, how you compare with competitors, and when a development crosses a threshold that warrants attention, before it reaches the news cycle or the board agenda.

The result: faster, more confident decisions about the external risks facing your organisation.

    Use cases

    • Horizon scanning and early warning: identify emerging risks before they reach your risk framework or the news cycle.
    • Board and audit committee reporting: scores and trend lines for each external risk, traceable to source and ready for committee packs.
    • Peer and industry benchmarking: compare your risk position with named competitors and your sector on one consistent scale.
    • Regulatory and disclosure readiness: show systematic oversight of foreseeable external risks in support of CSRD, ISSB and annual report disclosures.
    • Reputational and ESG risk: track how stakeholders, regulators and campaigners are responding to your organisation and your sector.
    • Supply chain and third-party risk: track suppliers, partners or portfolio companies on the same scoring basis.
    • Geopolitical and climate transition risk: follow how policy, markets, NGOs and researchers are reshaping the operating environment in your sector.

Informed by twenty years of data

Each event is read against almost twenty years of consistently scored history, which shows how risks typically emerge, escalate and recover. Polecat then filters and weights that foundation to your own risk definitions, thresholds and peer set. The same development can be a risk for one company and an opportunity for another, and PolecatX reflects your position.

    • Continuous horizon scanning against your thresholds, so material changes are flagged as they happen.
    • Monthly and quarterly risk reviews that separate one-off noise from risks that are building, with a scenario outlook up to six months ahead.

    Where it lives

    Getting started

Every engagement begins with a calibration phase in which Polecat sets up monitoring around your risk definitions, thresholds and peers. Contact Polecat for a private offer. Founded in 2007, headquartered in London.

    Highlights

    • Nearly two decades of independently scored, auditable event data - quantified rather than sentiment-based. Unlike tools that rely on subjective sentiment analysis, every Polecat event is numerically scored per entity so results are comparable across peers, industries, and time periods. This gives risk leaders an objective baseline they can defend in board discussions and regulatory filings, replacing anecdotal assessments with evidence-backed intelligence.
    • A two-layer intelligence model built for strategic decision-making. Layer one provides continuous day-to-day signal detection calibrated to your business definitions and risk thresholds. Layer two aggregates those signals into monthly and quarterly forward-looking scenario views up to six months out, giving leadership teams early warning of material issues before they become headlines rather than reactive alerts after the fact.
    • Intelligence delivered where your teams already work. Access risk intelligence through analyst-prepared briefs, interactive dashboards, REST API, or MCP integration directly into tools like Microsoft Copilot & Claude. The MCP connection embeds Polecat's scored external data into your existing AI workflows, eliminating the need to switch between platforms and putting forward-looking risk context alongside everyday decision-making tools.

    Dimensions summary

This contract pricing has three parts that work together. First, you choose a license tier: Standard, Premium, or Enterprise. Standard is open to all buyers. Premium and Enterprise suit larger license needs or multiple teams and use cases. Second, each tier includes an expected fair-usage entity quantity, and you can add more entity packages if you need them. Third, you can buy extra user seats beyond what your tier covers. Together, your tier choice, entity volume, and user seat count determine your total cost. The platform delivers AI-based risk and sentiment intelligence.

    Top-of-mind questions for buyers

An entity is a subject you track in the platform, such as your company, a competitor, or a stakeholder. Each tier includes a fair-usage entity allowance. You add entity packages when you need to monitor more subjects beyond that allowance.
Each tier carries an expected fair-usage entity quantity. If your needs go beyond that, you buy additional entity packages. The extra packages add to your tier cost rather than forcing a tier upgrade. Your base tier charge stays the same.
Three charges add together on one contract. Your chosen tier, Standard, Premium, or Enterprise, sets the base. Entity quantity drives cost if you track many subjects. User seats add cost as your team grows. Each charge bills independently and appears together.
