WHY AMAZON CLOUDFRONT
Scalability and performance. A global edge network delivers your content with low latency wherever your users are. Origin Shield adds a centralised caching layer that reduces the load reaching your origin servers, which matters most when your origin is a legacy system that cannot be scaled easily.
Price efficiency. Pay-as-you-go pricing is usage-based with no upfront fees, and price classes let you limit distribution to the regions you actually serve rather than paying for global reach you do not need.
Security and compliance. CloudFront integrates with AWS Shield for DDoS protection and AWS WAF for application-layer filtering, and field-level encryption protects sensitive data end to end — relevant wherever payment or personal data passes through the edge.
Integration and customisation. CloudFront works natively with S3, EC2 and Lambda@Edge, with caching behaviours and origin groups configurable per path so different parts of your application can be treated differently.
Advanced capability. Real-time logs and analytics show what the edge is actually doing, and Lambda@Edge runs your own logic at the edge — request routing, header manipulation, authorisation — without a round trip to the origin.
