The Disaster Recovery offering activities include:
- Leveraging the power of AWS native services such as AWS Backup, Elastic Disaster Recovery and service-specific replication capabilities to ensure the resiliency of your data and applications in the event of a disaster
- Inventory data assets
- Audit current protection of data and applications
- Assess current DR posture: what tools are being used, what timelines are currently possible for restoration of data and applications.
- Determine RPOs and RTOs that align with Service Level Objectives and Agreements.
- Define recovery scopes and estimate costs associated with each (Pilot Light, Warm Standby, Active/Active).
- Develop a multi-layered approach to protection of data
- Plan a Tabletop or Gameday with appropriate team members:
- Initial Tabletop exercise helps to establish a current state baseline and determine projects needed for improving current DR posture.
- Gamedays are used to practice recovery drills, 'test' documentation, solidify roles and responsibilities and identify areas for incremental process improvement.
