Rocky Linux is a free, open-source, and enterprise-grade Linux distribution designed as a binary-compatible replacement for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). It was created after CentOS shifted focus to CentOS Stream, ensuring users still have a stable, long-term supported alternative.

With this VM you will get Rocky Linux Version 9 GUI based Linux desktop environment packed with open source productivity tools & applications up & running in minutes.
This VM comes with the GUI environment available to you as compared to other available VM offers in the marketplace which do not have GUI by default.

Each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance type, so your rate scales with the compute size you select. Smaller instances like t2.nano or t3.micro carry lower hourly rates. Larger memory, compute, storage, and GPU instances such as x1e.32xlarge, p5.48xlarge, or u7in-32tb.224xlarge cost more per hour. Login to instance using SSH via key based authentication. Use "rocky" as userid (Please visit https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/connect-linux-inst-from-windows.html for details on how to connect using putty/ssh)

Once connected using ssh/putty, run below command to set the password for "rocky" user on the terminal

Once the password is set for rocky, from your local windows machine, goto start menu. On the start menu, search & select "remote desktop connection". In the "remote desktop connection" wizard, provide public IP of your instance & click connect.

In the displayed window, provide "rocky" as userid & password set in step 2 above.

Now you are connected to the desktop environment of the VM where you can access out of box RockyLinux GUI environment.

What do you like best about the product?

What do you like best about the product?
I consider this version to be more user-friendly than other distributions. It's not my favorite, but it's one of the ones I've used the most.
What do you dislike about the product?
Neutral. I have no negative opinion of this software. They are on the right track.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have had problems installing this distro on some low-resource devices. Specifically on a Chinese Firebat PC.
