Cloud-based android testing has enabled fast IoT data validation and continuous integration

    Reviewed on Dec 02, 2025
    Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for Genymotion Cloud  is to generate diagrams. I work for an oil and gas company, so we use Genymotion Cloud  to generate data by utilizing all the data from IoT devices in our platform.

We use Genymotion Cloud for Android virtual cloud devices. We install our application, then execute automated tests. We get the results, then we turn off the devices.

We use Genymotion Cloud for automated Appium , Espresso, and Roboto framework.

    What is most valuable?

The best feature that Genymotion Cloud offers for my work is based on Android virtualization.

What stands out for me about Android virtualization in Genymotion Cloud is that it allows us to start and stop and also scale Android on demand in a few seconds.

Genymotion Cloud has positively impacted my organization because it supports headless mode.

    What needs improvement?

Genymotion Cloud can be improved with better ARM native platform performance. Better ARM native performance is needed as Genymotion Cloud is mainly with virtual devices with ARM translation.

I would like to see more device profiles and manufacturers or improved network simulation for Genymotion Cloud.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Genymotion Cloud for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Genymotion Cloud is stable in my experience, and we don't have any defects. I can tell that it's a stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability in Genymotion Cloud is exceptional. We can start with one device, then scale to 10 and to 100 in a second without any hardware limitation.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Genymotion Cloud is the first solution I have used.

    What about the implementation team?

Another team manages the deployment on-premises for Genymotion Cloud, so I don't have any idea about how it works for that part.

    What was our ROI?

I have seen a return on investment with Genymotion Cloud because now we use it in an offshore and onshore platform for extracting oil with all the IoT devices.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Another team works on this use case, so I didn't participate in evaluating other options. I use it only as a user.

What other advice do I have?

Regarding integration, we use Genymotion Cloud with all the CI/CD.

I advise others looking into using Genymotion Cloud to start with a small, manageable setup, begin by testing two devices before scaling up, and familiarize yourself with the direction.

I would rate this product an 8 out of 10.

What do you like best about the product?
Genymotion proved to be very quick and reliable in testing both Android apps and features, saving our engineers a lot of build time. The cloud emulator works across platforms, allowing us to check UI and functionality beforehand.
What do you dislike about the product?
Initial setup can be tricky, especially when integrating with custom automation scripts or older API versions. While most issues get resolved by customer support, the documentation for advanced workflows could be better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smoother app testing and debugging have resulted in fewer bugs and faster releases. We catch more bugs before launch, and support more types of devices without additional hardware.
