You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Usage instructions
Create an EC2 instance with 1-Click or by using EC2 Console step by step approach or from AWS Cli. SSH to the Public DNS or Public IP address using centos and the key pair specified at instance launch time. SUDO needs to be used in order to run a command as root superuser. Use sudo sh or sudo su - in order to get a root prompt. To connect using your instances public DNS, enter the following command. ssh -i /path/your-key-pair.pem centos@ec2-instance-dns-name
