You pay based on usage each month, with two separate meters. One meter counts the number of systems you manage through the platform. The other counts the number of systems you monitor. These dimensions are independent, so you can bill for managing systems, monitoring systems, or both. Your monthly cost rises or falls with the count in each category. This pay-monthly model scales with your Linux estate, whether you run a small deployment or thousands of clients.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as one managed system versus one monitored system for billing?
A managed system is a Linux client you actively control through the platform for patching, provisioning, and configuration. A monitored system is a client you track in real time for health and status. Each client counts individually. A system you both manage and monitor is metered under both meters.
How do the two meters combine on my monthly invoice?
The two meters bill independently and add together on one invoice. One meter counts managed systems; the other counts monitored systems. A client you both manage and monitor generates a charge under each meter. Your total scales with the count in each category, from small deployments to thousands of clients.
How does this pay-monthly cloud model differ from a traditional upfront subscription?
This listing uses a pay-monthly, usage-based model billed through AWS Marketplace. You are charged each month based on the number of systems you managed and monitored, with no upfront commitment. Your bill rises or falls as your Linux estate grows or shrinks month to month.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
Use the image to start an instance of your choice in Amazon EC2. Once the instance is running connect to it using a Secure Shell (SSH) client as 'ec2-user' and the configured SSH key.
If you started from scratch an IAM role with the required permissions was automatically created. As this role isn't attached automatically at instance launch make sure to attach this role after the instance has launched.
