What does one hourly unit cover, and is the software licence charged separately from the instance?
Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type. The hourly rate combines the software licence and the running instance for that size. You pick one instance to match your CPU, memory, or hardware needs. The published AMI includes Docker 25.0.14 installed from the Amazon Linux 2023 built-in repository.
Am I charged when my instance is stopped or paused?
Software charges accrue only while an instance runs. Fully stopped instances do not accrue the hourly software fee. Stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage costs for attached volumes, but the software licence meters running time only. Total cost depends on hours used and the instance size you selected.
If I need more capacity, do I change instance size automatically or manually?
There is no automatic upgrade. Each dimension is a separate instance type you choose. To move to a size with more CPU, memory, or GPU, you launch a different instance. Billing then follows the new instance's hourly rate for the hours it runs.
