Overview
1-Click-Deployment for your Cloud Linux Desktop
Launch a VM instance with this Amazon Machine Image (AMI) to start your own Linux Desktop in the cloud in less than 5 minutes. This server image provides you with a Xfce Desktop Environment for Amazon Linux 2. You can connect to the virtual display via RDP or VNC.
To keep the VM as clean as possible we have kept the installation to a minimum (no additional tools were installed other than Mozilla Firefox for internet access so that you can get started with your custom software installations out of the box).
"Xfce is a lightweight desktop environment for UNIX-like operating systems. It aims to be fast and low on system resources, while still being visually appealing and user friendly." - xfce.org

64-bit (x86) Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
Version release notes
New Features: We have streamlined the process for starting the GUI after each reboot by consolidating the logic into a single script located at /home/start-gui.sh. This script now handles all GUI-related tasks and is executed automatically after every reboot. The new setup makes it easier to change the username and password used to launch the GUI.
