Overview
DicomBridge is a professional deployment service that installs a production-grade, on-premise DICOM proxy gateway on any macOS workstation — giving healthcare facilities automated PACS backup, legacy modality integration, and cloud forwarding through a single self-installing application.
PROBLEMS IT SOLVES:
PACS Backup & Disaster Recovery — Automatically duplicate all incoming DICOM studies to a secondary PACS, cloud archive, or offsite storage in real time. Eliminates single points of failure in clinical imaging workflows with zero manual intervention.
Legacy Modality Integration — Connect older imaging equipment (CT, MRI, X-ray, Ultrasound, Mammography, Fluoroscopy) that cannot natively communicate with modern cloud PACS or AI platforms. DicomBridge acts as a universal DICOM adapter using fully standard protocols.
Multi-Destination Routing — Route studies simultaneously to multiple endpoints including local PACS, AWS HealthImaging, Google Cloud Healthcare API, Azure Health Data Services, teleradiology services, and AI diagnostic platforms.
Cloud Migration — Incrementally migrate on-premise imaging archives to cloud platforms without disrupting active clinical workflows.
Bandwidth-Aware Forwarding — Studies queue locally and forward when connectivity allows, with automatic retry on failure. Ideal for clinics with unreliable internet connections.
HOW THE SERVICE WORKS:
- We deliver a custom-configured .dmg installer for your environment
- Clinical staff enter destination PACS URL and credentials, then click Install
- Docker, Orthanc, and all dependencies are configured automatically
- Imaging modalities send DICOM to AET: DICOMBRIDGE on port 4242
- Studies are received, forwarded, archived, and managed continuously
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:
- DICOM AET: DICOMBRIDGE (customizable per site)
- DICOM port: 4242 | HTTP REST API: port 8042
- Forwarding protocol: DICOMweb STOW-RS
- Engine: Orthanc open-source DICOM server
- Runtime: Docker container — persistent, auto-restarts on reboot
- Compatible modalities: CT, MRI, X-Ray, Ultrasound, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine
- Platforms: macOS Intel (x86_64) and Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3)
This product relates to AWS HealthImaging and can forward DICOM studies directly to AWS HealthImaging data stores using the DICOMweb STOW-RS standard.
Highlights
- One-click macOS installer — automatically deploys Docker, Orthanc DICOM server, and all dependencies. Clinical staff need only enter a PACS URL and credentials. Works on Intel and Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3).
- Universal DICOM compatibility — receives studies from any modality (CT, MRI, X-ray, Ultrasound, Mammography) and forwards to any DICOMweb-compatible PACS, AWS HealthImaging, Google Cloud Healthcare, or Azure Health Data Services.
- Resilient background forwarding — studies queue locally with automatic retry on failure. Container restarts automatically on reboot. Persistent local storage ensures zero study loss during network outages.
