You pay by the hour for this hardened RHEL 9 image with a compliance agent. Pricing is billed per running EC2 instance hour, so your cost scales with how long each instance runs. The many options here are not tiers or feature levels. Each one maps to a specific EC2 instance type, from small burstable sizes to large compute, memory, storage, and GPU-focused machines, including bare metal. You pick the instance type that fits your workload's compute and memory needs. The software rate applies on top of the underlying AWS infrastructure charge. Larger instance types generally carry a higher hourly software rate.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one billing unit map to on this listing?
Each unit is one running EC2 instance measured in hours. The instance type you select, such as t3.medium or m5.large, sets the hourly software rate. You are billed for each hour an instance runs the image, counted per instance.
Am I charged the software rate when an instance is stopped?
The software rate meters running instance-hours only. Fully stopped instances do not accrue software charges. Stopped instances may still incur AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but those are separate AWS infrastructure charges, not the software license fee.
How does the software charge combine with my AWS infrastructure cost?
Two charges apply at the same time. The hourly software rate for this image is added on top of the underlying AWS compute charge for the instance type you run. Both accrue per hour and appear on your AWS bill together.
