Wayfinder

Wayfinder is built for cloud platform engineers to remove the complexities of AWS Managed Kubernetes Service (EKS), allowing your platform teams to create (Day 1) and upgrade (Day 2) clusters with ease. Wayfinder removes friction between your ops and dev teams, giving your application delivery teams the speed and flexibility they require to deploy their apps in EKS while ensuring compliance with the guardrails and security constraints you define.

Architected for a cloud-native foundation: Wayfinder provides a complete cloud solution aligned to AWS, meaning that all the heavy lifting for building a well-architected base in the cloud is done right from the start. Security-driven policy and governance: Wayfinder enables simplified managed access with integrated cloud security best practices, and it uses single sign-on to federate across the cloud and EKS with least privilege and short-lived access.

Access and identity management: Platform teams can manage access to EKS using RBAC (role-based access control) utilizing workgroups and group permissions to ensure secure authorization to your cloud resources.

Workload protection: Ensures all EKS clusters, cloud, and environment access is managed by escalating privilege in a time-bound way. You define a policy to specify the time that user privilege can be escalated, to protect sensitive workloads.

Credentials/privilege abuse mitigation: Wayfinder operates in credential-less mode, meaning no credentials are ever used or stored by Wayfinder, eliminating the risk of credential theft or prolonged privilege abuse.

Developer self-service: Wayfinder enables the platform team to distribute Terraform-based self-service capabilities to developer teams so they can self-serve cloud-based application dependencies, resulting in a working application in minutes.

Kubernetes management control: Wayfinder helps to define cluster blueprints for development teams which enables them to self-serve AWS cloud resources. They can also allow for overrides for common use cases in the blueprints to allow for edge-case situations in a controlled way.

Cost insights: Wayfinder enables the project teams to see, understand and control the cloud costs as they are iterating through to production. Platform teams can manage these costs with assigned budgets to help control costs the right way from the start.
