You pay by the hour for a preconfigured image that runs Keycloak with a PostgreSQL database on Amazon Linux 2023. Pricing is not tiered by features. Instead, you pick one Amazon EC2 instance type, and the hourly rate follows that choice. The software runs the same across every option. Options span burstable families (t2, t3, t3a) for lighter, variable workloads and general-purpose families (m4, m5, m6, m7 and their variants, plus bare metal) for steady or heavier use. Larger instance sizes carry higher hourly rates. You pay only while an instance runs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit cover, and what do I get with that instance type?
One unit is one running Amazon EC2 instance of the type you pick. The rate meters each hour that instance runs. Each instance comes preconfigured with Keycloak and a PostgreSQL database on Amazon Linux 2023. The instance type you select sets the CPU, memory, and hourly rate.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or paused?
Software charges meter running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software rate. You may still pay underlying AWS storage fees for the stopped instance's disk. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
If I need more capacity, do I move to a larger instance or add more?
You choose the instance type when you launch. To scale up, stop the instance and relaunch on a size with more CPU and memory; the hourly rate follows that new type. There is no automatic tier change. You may also run multiple instances, each billed separately.
