You pay by the hour for this Oracle Linux image with a security agent, billed only while an instance runs. Pricing is not tiered. Instead, each rate maps to a specific Amazon EC2 instance type, so your cost follows the instance you choose. Options span general purpose, compute, memory, storage, GPU, and high-performance families, from small shared instances up to bare-metal and multi-terabyte machines. Larger instances with more CPU, memory, or accelerators carry proportionally higher hourly rates. You add the software cost on top of the underlying EC2 infrastructure charge.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I actually receive when I select an hourly instance rate?
You receive an Oracle Linux 8.7 machine image with a preinstalled security agent, launched on the Amazon EC2 instance type you pick. Each rate maps to one running instance of that type. You launch it with one click on AWS, then manage it like any EC2 server.
Am I charged the software rate when my instance is stopped or paused?
The hourly software rate meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue software charges. You still pay AWS for attached storage such as EBS volumes while the instance is stopped. Charges resume automatically when you start the instance again.
How does the software charge combine with my underlying AWS compute cost?
Two charges apply per running hour and appear on the same invoice. One is the vendor software rate tied to your chosen instance type. The other is the standard AWS EC2 infrastructure charge for that instance. They add together; the EC2 charge typically dominates on larger instances.
