Smart Back to School (SB2S) COVID-19 has upended learning from primary schools to universities. As educational organizations look to return students safely to campus, NTT DATA’s Smart Back-to-School application (SB2S) creates a path to a safe return to the classroom by providing the foundational tools needed to facilitate a safe reopening program. A key element to safely reopening schools and controlling potential outbreaks is a robust testing program of students, faculty and staff. SB2S helps securely facilitate these programs. 

How it Works SB2W and SB2S are HIPAA-compliant, responsive web applications built natively on Amazon Web Services (AWS) to help equip federal agency, school and business leaders to manage large-scale COVID-19 vaccine attestation and, testing activities.  NTT DATA SB2W and SB2S uses advanced analytics that segment daily self-assessment and testing data by demographic groups. For example, the data can be analyzed by groups like student athlete teams or work groups that enable administrative officials to spot trends early and slow the spread of COVID-19.

Deliverables • Vaccine Attestation: To support compliance with new federal employee vaccine mandates, SB2W provides a secure portal for employees to easily submit and update their vaccine status.
• Reporting of COVID-19 Test Results: Employees or students required to submit to regular COVID-19 testing can easily upload their test results from their party providers -- such as their local drug store -- to the portal and maintain compliance with program policy.
• Employer or School Provided: Test Scheduling: Participants can avoid lengthy wait times by pre-scheduling COVID-19 tests through the application, which also collects required CDC demographic information when scheduling.  • Employer or School Provided: Sample Collection: Through a partnership with a national healthcare provider, health professionals or school nurses conduct either Antigen Rapid or RT-PCR tests onsite. Medical teams record Antigen Rapid test results directly in the SB2S portal while the lab uploads RT-PCR results to the SB2W portal via a secure connection. This allows all COVID-19 test results to be reported in a single location.  • Student Reporting and Automated Alerts: Once recorded in the system, the student (or parent) receives an email alerting them results are available in the application. Campus leaders are also alerted to any positive results so they can immediately begin contact tracing. For state health departments that require reporting of Point of Care tests, SB2S securely shares this date with health officials.  • Smart Badge: A self-assessment survey that indicates if a student is free of COVID-19 symptoms. Smart Badge issues students either a green, yellow or red QR code based on their results that either authorizes access to campus facilities or provides instructions for next steps.
