Overview
Klika Tech Legacy Code & Runtime Modernization is a professional services engagement for organizations whose application portfolios are constrained by unsupported runtimes, outdated frameworks, vulnerable dependencies, obsolete libraries, or accumulated technical debt. These issues increase security exposure, delay feature delivery, complicate cloud migration, and consume engineering capacity that could otherwise support new business capabilities.
Why Klika Tech
Klika Tech combines engineer-led architecture decisions with agentic automation through AWS Transform custom. Unlike fully automated tools that lack human review, Klika Tech engineers validate every change before it merges. Unlike manual-only consultancies, the agentic automation reduces cost on repetitive transformation work across large portfolios. The pilot-then-rollout pattern reduces risk compared to big-bang upgrades by proving each pattern on a representative repository before scaling. Klika Tech is certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2013 (Information Security Management Systems, certified by DQS) and ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management Systems), ensuring customer source code and credentials are handled under audited security and quality controls.
Engagement Phases and Typical Timeline
The engagement begins with automated codebase analysis and engineer-led review across the customer's application portfolio. Klika Tech documents architecture, business logic, dependencies, known vulnerabilities, end-of-life exposure, upgrade relationships, and the operational risk of taking no action. These findings are consolidated into a prioritized roadmap that customers can review, budget, and schedule.
Each modernization pattern is then defined with clear scope, protected behavior, build and test commands, and measurable validation criteria. Klika Tech pilots the transformation on a representative repository, incorporates lessons from the pilot, and rolls the approved pattern across additional codebases. Changes are committed separately and merged only after review through the customer's established development and governance processes.
Indicative phase durations:
- Discovery and roadmap: 2-4 weeks depending on portfolio size
- Pilot transformation: 2-3 weeks per pattern
- Rollout: varies by number of repositories and pattern complexity
- Validation and transition: 1-2 weeks per batch
Example Scenario
A financial services firm with 80+ microservices running Java 11 on Spring Boot 2.x faced an end-of-support deadline and needed to upgrade to Java 21 and Spring Boot 3.x before a compliance audit window. Klika Tech performed portfolio analysis, identified dependency conflicts and breaking API changes, piloted the upgrade on three representative services, refined the transformation pattern, and rolled it across the remaining portfolio using AWS Transform custom for repetitive refactoring steps - with engineers reviewing every generated change.
Modernization Scope
Modernization may include Java, Python, Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS Lambda runtime upgrades; AWS SDK migrations; Spring Boot, React, and Angular upgrades; dependency and internal-library replacement; observability improvements; x86-to-AWS-Graviton transitions; server-to-container modernization; and Infrastructure as Code translations.
AWS Transform Custom Integration
AWS Transform custom is used where agentic automation can reduce the cost of repetitive, well-defined transformation work across multiple repositories. Klika Tech engineers define and refine the transformation patterns, review generated changes, capture lessons from each execution, and apply those improvements to subsequent repositories. Engineering judgment, architecture decisions, validation, and delivery accountability remain with Klika Tech and the customer's designated reviewers.
Deliverables
Customers receive a documented portfolio, a maintained modernization roadmap, updated code and runtime components within the agreed scope, and reusable transformation definitions for future upgrade cycles. Deliverables remain in the customer's AWS account and source-code repositories.
Related AWS Services
Depending on customer requirements, this offering relates to AWS Transform custom, AWS Lambda, AWS SDKs, Amazon EC2 with AWS Graviton processors, Amazon ECS, Amazon EKS, AWS CDK, and related AWS services. AWS service consumption and infrastructure charges are billed separately by AWS.
Highlights
- Portfolio Analysis and Prioritized Roadmap - Klika Tech performs automated codebase analysis and engineer-led review to identify unsupported runtimes, vulnerable dependencies, upgrade relationships, and modernization risks across your application portfolio. The output is an actionable, prioritized roadmap with indicative timelines that customers can budget, schedule, and align with compliance or migration deadlines.
- Repeatable, Engineer-Validated Modernization with Proven Patterns - Each upgrade is piloted on a representative repository, refined based on lessons learned, and rolled out across additional codebases with defined testing, review, and approval controls. This pilot-then-rollout approach reduces risk compared to big-bang upgrades and builds reusable transformation definitions for future upgrade cycles.
- Agentic Automation with Human Accountability via AWS Transform Custom - AWS Transform Custom reduces the cost of repetitive code transformations across large portfolios. At the same time, Klika Tech engineers retain architecture decisions, validation, code quality review, and delivery accountability. Unlike fully automated tools that lack human oversight, Klika Tech reviews every generated change before merging.
