MicroK8s Appliance for AWS
The MicroK8s appliance is provided through a CloudFormation template that utilizes an AutoScalingGroup, a SQS, a SNS and a Lambda function. The cluster is created with an single node which is configured as initial. The user can access this node using the SSH key that has been provided and start using the cluster. By default the scaling operations are done manually, the desired configuration should be set by the user through the AutoScalingGroup. Currently the cluster will be made up of control plane nodes only and recommended sizes for a cluster are 3, 5, 7, 9. Clusters with sizes more than the recommended ones can experience degraded performance.

CloudFormation Template (CFT)
AWS CloudFormation templates are JSON or YAML-formatted text files that simplify provisioning and management on AWS. The templates describe the service or application architecture you want to deploy, and AWS CloudFormation uses those templates to provision and configure the required services (such as Amazon EC2 instances or Amazon RDS DB instances). The deployed application and associated resources are called a "stack."
