You pay by the hour for Apache TomEE (Plus) running on Amazon Linux 2023. Pricing is not tiered by features. Instead, every option delivers the same software preconfigured as a machine image. The dimensions map to EC2 instance types you select. Each instance type sets the hourly software rate, based on its size and compute family. Smaller instances like t3.nano cost less per hour than large ones like m7i.metal-48xl. You scale cost by choosing the instance that matches your workload. Your total also includes the underlying AWS infrastructure charges, billed separately by AWS.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What software resources do I get when I launch one of these instance types?
Each option delivers Apache TomEE (Plus) preconfigured as a machine image on Amazon Linux 2023. TomEE is a Java application server that extends Apache Tomcat and meets Jakarta EE specifications. The instance type you pick sets the CPU, memory, and compute family for running that software.
Am I charged the hourly software rate when my instance is stopped?
The software rate meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. Stopped instances may still incur AWS storage fees for attached volumes, billed separately by AWS. You pay the software rate again once the instance restarts.
Does moving to a larger instance change only the compute or the software price too?
Both change together. The hourly software rate is tied to the instance type you select. Choosing a size in a higher compute family, like m7i.metal-48xl over t3.nano, raises the software rate and the AWS infrastructure charge. Each runs on the same TomEE software regardless of size.
