Overview
Building or maturing a FinOps function for AWS is hard to do well. Duckbill provides a structured three-phase assessment designed to move your practice forward.
Phase 1 — Discovery: We interview stakeholders across FinOps, Finance, Engineering, and Procurement, then analyze your current AWS cost management processes, including budgeting, forecasting, anomaly detection, and how you use tools like AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Cost and Usage Reports, and AWS Organizations.
Phase 2 — Strategic Assessment: We develop a recommended operating model for your FinOps function, provide tooling and data architecture recommendations that complement your existing AWS investments, and design process enhancements for budgeting, forecasting, and optimization workflows.
Phase 3 — Roadmap and Knowledge Transfer: We deliver a 12-18 month maturation roadmap with prioritized milestones, an executive briefing, and detailed walkthrough sessions with your team.
Deliverables: Assessment report, executive presentation, and Q&A session with key stakeholders. Timeline varies by organization size — typically 2-3 weeks for mid-size organizations, up to 3 months for large enterprises.
Note: As our services require access to AWS Cost Explorer and Data Exports, you are responsible for any additional AWS infrastructure charges incurred as part of this service.
