Overview
Overview
European organizations are under growing pressure to strengthen digital sovereignty, resilience, and control over critical workloads. AWS European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) can help address these objectives, but the right deployment model depends on business goals, regulatory obligations, data characteristics, workload architecture, and acceptable trade-offs.
SoftServe ESC Fit Assessment is an evidence-based, one-week assessment for organizations considering AWS European Sovereign Cloud. It evaluates business, regulatory, and technical requirements against ESC capabilities and produces a clear cloud strategy with quantified trade-offs. The goal is to help you decide where ESC creates value before committing significant time and migration investment.
During the assessment, SoftServe works with business, legal, security, and technical stakeholders to:
Review the regulatory landscape, industry standards, organizational goals, and digital sovereignty concerns.
Classify data and workloads, including residency, processing, jurisdictional, and sensitivity requirements.
Validate business and technical requirements, quality attributes, constraints, dependencies, and acceptable risks.
Compare architecture options across sovereignty, resilience, cost, operations, and compliance.
Define measurable Digital Sovereignty KPIs to support future architecture, governance, and implementation decisions.
Recommend the most appropriate ESC strategy for each workload.
The assessment considers four strategy options:
Skip ESC and remain in an AWS Commercial Region.
Use ESC for backup and disaster recovery.
Use ESC as the primary data-processing region.
Integrate ESC as part of a multi-region architecture.
Solution Benefits
Make migration decisions based on evidence instead of assumptions.
Receive an ESC Fit Scorecard with a recommended strategy for each assessed workload.
Get a quantified comparison of capabilities, benefits, risks, and trade-offs across deployment options.
Identify regulatory, jurisdictional, data-sovereignty, resilience, and operational requirements early.
Accelerate architecture design, migration planning, scope definition, effort estimation, and TCO analysis.
Evaluate Digital Sovereignty benefits before committing CAPEX to migration.
Use a low-investment entry point for greenfield ESC opportunities or for validating an existing migration direction.
Align business, legal, compliance, security, and engineering stakeholders around a shared decision framework.
ESC Fit Assessment Offering
The engagement is structured around focused discovery, stakeholder workshops, architecture analysis, and executive recommendations. Typical assessment artifacts include a request for architecture work, baseline architecture documentation where applicable, architecture drivers, identified Architecture Building Blocks, an ESC Fit Assessment Scorecard, and roadmap options. The final recommendation provides a practical basis for the next phase: target architecture design, scope and effort definition, TCO estimation, migration planning, implementation governance, and continuous compliance.
ESC Fit Assessment can also serve as the starting point for a broader SoftServe ESC migration journey. Depending on the selected strategy and workload needs, SoftServe can support subsequent phases with complementary assessments, migration planning, Landing Zone by SoftServe, ESC Security Foundation, ESC Evidence Automation, the SAMP platform for secure workload hosting, and ESC Managed Operations. This enables a connected path from early fit validation and greenfield planning through architecture, migration implementation, compliance automation, and long-term maintenance.
SoftServe combines AWS expertise with a structured digital sovereignty methodology spanning assessment, implementation, and operations, helping organizations translate sovereignty objectives into actionable architecture decisions and a practical roadmap for AWS European Sovereign Cloud.
