Overview
This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for extended support.
This product is an AWS AMI (Amazon Machine Image) built upon CentOS Stream 9, designed to provide an out-of-the-box, stable, secure, and cloud-optimized operating system solution. Through systematic configuration adjustments and feature enhancements, we ensure that instances are in an optimal state upon launch, backed by professional technical support services.
System and Partition Configuration The system supports both Standard Partitioning and LVM (Logical Volume Management) layouts. The root filesystem is available in either ext4 or XFS formats, depending on the specific version. Each image has been rigorously optimized for performance and stability based on its respective filesystem and partition structure.
Note: Please refer to the AMI product title for the specific combination of partition layout and filesystem type included in this version.
Security and Integration For enhanced ease of use and manageability, the operating system firewall is disabled by default, allowing users to configure rules as needed. The system is pre-integrated with the AWS Systems Manager Agent (SSM Agent), enabling secure, credential-free instance management, real-time monitoring, and automated operations directly via the AWS Console.
Automatic Performance Tuning Upon startup, the system automatically applies a suite of lightweight yet robust kernel parameter optimizations tailored to the detected instance type and size. These adjustments span the compute, storage, and network layers, ensuring that hardware resources are utilized at peak efficiency. All modifications are strictly validated for compatibility and stability to ensure high performance without the risks of over-tuning.
Technical Support and Service Scope We provide multiple technical support channels, including email, community forums, and a knowledge base. Our support primarily addresses configuration, functionality, and compatibility issues encountered while using the operating system. If an upstream software bug is identified, we will assist users in developing mitigation measures or alternative solutions and help escalate the issue to the open-source community, with final fixes following the official update process.
Product Lifecycle Commitment We are committed to updating this product at least quarterly. Critical security vulnerabilities will be addressed with real-time updates. The last three major versions of the product will be maintained and made available to users.
Quick Selection Guide
| Feature | Non-LVM Ext4 | Non-LVM XFS | LVM Ext4 | LVM XFS |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Performance | Good | Excellent | Good | Excellent |
| Flexibility | Low | Low | High | High |
| Shrinkable | Yes | No | Yes | No |
| Recommendation | Boot / Simple Web | Data / Analytics | General Purpose | Enterprise / DB |
These four options represent different trade-offs between management flexibility (LVM vs. Standard) and filesystem features (Ext4 vs. XFS).
The distinction lies in the trade-off between management flexibility and filesystem features. LVM offers the agility to resize logical volumes and span multiple disks, making it ideal for dynamic production environments, whereas Non-LVM provides a simpler, lower-overhead structure perfect for small instances or straightforward architectures. Regarding filesystems, XFS is the modern enterprise standard (like RHEL/CentOS) known for superior performance (note: it allows growth only, not shrinking), while Ext4 is the reliable classic and remains the only option if you ever need to shrink your storage.
- If you are unsure, or need to align with RHEL/CentOS industry standards, choose LVM + XFS.
- If you prioritize simplicity, or are running on small instances like t3.nano/micro, choose Non-LVM + Ext4.
