The AWS Disaster Recovery – Backup & Restore offering is a comprehensive solution encompassing design, deployment, and detailed knowledge transfer. It entails evaluating the backup and restore capabilities of individual applications and implementing a disaster recovery solution that meets the Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) requirements, as defined by the business. Clients will receive architectural design and a deployed solution that leverages native AWS backup and restore capabilities. This solution specifically addresses AWS Cloud-to-Cloud disaster recovery and does not support on-premises-to-cloud scenarios. Its implementation enables clients to recover from various events, including single Availability Zone (AZ) outages (for workloads in single region/single AZ), complete region failures, data corruption, or account compromise. Automated processes are integrated into the solution to re-establish resources from backed-up components.
The target customer profile includes those with applications that can tolerate brief offline periods (RTO) of a few hours and data loss (RPO) of 1 hour or more. The solution is implemented using a dedicated Backup Service admin account, facilitating centralized management by the Backup Team.
