Overview
This information is used to calculate bone mineral density BMD. DEXA scans are important because they are the gold standard for measuring bone mineral density, allowing healthcare providers to accurately assess a person's risk of bone fractures by diagnosing osteoporosis or identifying low bone mass, which is crucial for taking preventative measures against bone breaks, particularly in individuals at high risk due to age or medical conditions.
Datasets include: Dexa scans with xrays of lumbar or hips. Focus on races of White, Black, Hispanic and Asian. Dexa report includes BMD, Tscore, Area and BMC scores. BMI included if available.
