Overview
Apache Airflow (or simply Airflow) is a platform to programmatically author, schedule, and monitor workflows.
When workflows are defined as code, they become more maintainable, versionable, testable, and collaborative.
Use Airflow to author workflows as directed acyclic graphs (DAGs) of tasks. The Airflow scheduler executes your tasks on an array of workers while following the specified dependencies. Rich command line utilities make performing complex sugeries on DAGs a snap. The rich user interface makes it easy to visualize pipelines running in production, monitor progress, and troubleshoot issues when needed.

Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for the Amazon EC2 instance size you run BastionLinux/Airflow on. Each dimension maps to one specific EC2 instance type, so pricing scales with the compute, memory, storage, or GPU/accelerator capacity you choose. Smaller general-purpose types like t3.micro cost less per hour, while large memory-optimized, storage-dense, and accelerated types (such as r8i, i7ie, p5, and inf2 families) cost more. There are no tiers or commitments. You select the instance that fits your Airflow workflow load, and billing follows your actual running hours.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
The rate is the software charge for the EC2 instance type you launch, billed per running hour. It covers the pre-built Airflow platform for authoring, scheduling, and monitoring workflows defined as Python DAGs. Underlying AWS compute and storage fees are separate and appear on your AWS bill.
The software meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue hourly software charges. Storage attached to a stopped instance may still incur standard AWS storage fees, but those are separate from the per-hour software charge shown in the pricing table.
Airflow scales horizontally by distributing tasks across multiple worker nodes. Each node runs on its own EC2 instance and is billed separately by the hour for its instance type. Total cost adds up across every running instance, so more or larger workers raise your combined hourly charge.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

airflow contains no cryptographically stored data and does not perform any encryption at rest.
Local X509 PKI may be utilised to manage network-based TLS. All certificates and keys are stored locally in /etc/pki and it is completely at your discretion to regenerate any of these at any time; the product will transparently operate on any consistent set of configured keys.
airflow ships with openssl, step-cli and other popular tools to facilitate certificate regeneration.

The SSH user for your instance is ec2-user. You can connect by using the private key of the key pair you launched the instance with:
