    Overview

This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for the automated deployment, first-boot initialization, operational tools, and security configuration provided by Tarkan LLC.

Tarkan LMS Pro packages the open-source Moodle LMS 5.2.1 software on Ubuntu Server 24.04 LTS with Nginx, PHP 8.3, MariaDB 10.11, and Redis. On first boot, the image automatically creates a new database, unique database credentials, an upgrade key, and a temporary application administrator password. Application data is stored outside the web root, and Nginx is configured to serve the application's public directory.

Built-in commands allow administrators to run system health checks, create local backups, and configure a domain with Let's Encrypt HTTPS. The image also includes UFW, fail2ban, automatic security updates, PHP OPcache, Redis-backed sessions, and one-minute scheduled task execution. Buyers receive full sudo access through the Ubuntu operating system account and can administer the complete stack.

64-bit (x86) Amazon Machine Image (AMI)

    Amazon Machine Image (AMI)

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

    Usage instructions

    1. Launch the product using a t3.medium or larger EC2 instance. Allow inbound TCP port 22 from the administrator's public IP address and allow TCP ports 80 and 443 from the networks that will access the learning platform.

    2. Wait for both EC2 status checks to pass. Connect using SSH: ssh -i <private-key.pem> ubuntu@<EC2-Public-IP>

    3. Wait for the automatic first-boot initialization to finish. Check its status with: sudo systemctl status tarkan-lms-firstboot.service --no-pager

    4. View the initial site URL and temporary administrator credentials: sudo cat /home/ubuntu/tarkan-lms-credentials.txt

This file contains sensitive information and is accessible only to the ubuntu user and root. Open the Site URL shown in the file, sign in using the temporary administrator credentials, and change the temporary password immediately. After confirming the new password, remove the credentials file: sudo rm /home/ubuntu/tarkan-lms-credentials.txt

    1. Verify the application, web server, database, Redis, scheduled tasks, and PHP configuration: sudo tarkan-lms-health

    2. To configure a domain and Let's Encrypt HTTPS, first create a DNS A record that points the domain to the instance public IP address. Then run: sudo tarkan-lms-domain example.com admin@example.com

Replace example.com and admin@example.com  with the buyer's domain and email address.

    1. Create a local application and database backup with: sudo tarkan-lms-backup

Backups are stored under /var/backups/tarkan-lms/. Buyers should copy important backups to a separate, protected storage location.

    1. The source Marketplace AMI uses an unencrypted source snapshot as required for AWS Marketplace ingestion. Buyers should enable Amazon EBS encryption for launched volumes according to their security requirements. Application traffic initially uses HTTP. Configure the included Let's Encrypt helper before processing sensitive user data over the internet.

    2. The application does not require seller access to the EC2 instance. SSH password authentication and root login are disabled. Administrators receive sudo access through the ubuntu operating system account.

    3. AWS infrastructure charges and Tarkan LMS Pro software charges are billed separately. For AMI-specific support, contact support@tarkanllc.com . Never send passwords, private keys, or database credentials to support.
