Overview
StigReady Applied for Ubuntu 24.04 LTS: DISA STIG remediation on the StigReady base, scored in the build. OpenSCAP score 93.6% against the unmodified SSG DISA STIG profile (as of 2026-10-19). Full evidence bundle (OpenSCAP, POA&M, SBOM, CVE) for every version.
Who this is for: Teams that need a remediated, evidence-backed baseline for regulated workloads - the OpenSCAP score and audit artifacts your assessors can review without re-scanning from scratch on day one.
What you get (StigReady Applied tier):
- StigReady Base partition layout plus DISA STIG remediation (StigForge STIG roles)
- Scored in the build against the raw, unmodified SSG DISA STIG profile
- FIPS mode enabled per STIG profile using the OS vendor's FIPS cryptographic modules
- Evidence bundle: OpenSCAP results, POA&M, SBOM, CVE scan, on request from support
- The published score counts every documented exemption as a failure. Boot loader, root and sudo password rules fail until you run sudo stigready-set-credentials (AWS Marketplace does not allow these passwords in an AMI). Rules that do not apply to a cloud AMI (for example remote log offload and smartcard/CAC) are listed with a POA&M entry and the customer action in the evidence bundle.
- Boot-verified on AWS Nitro; built from official OS media
Getting started:
- Subscribe and launch in EC2 with your SSH key.
- Connect as ubuntu; restrict security group TCP/22 to trusted IPs.
- Request the evidence bundle from support@stigready.com ; see https://stigready.com/applied .
No Ubuntu Pro subscription is included. Ongoing ESM and FIPS updates require your own Ubuntu Pro subscription.
Pricing: one flat software fee of $0.08/hr (or $649 per instance per year on an annual plan), the same on every supported instance type; it does not change with instance size. EC2 infrastructure is billed separately by AWS.

64-bit (x86) Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Usage instructions
Subscribe in AWS Marketplace, then launch in EC2 with your SSH key pair. Connect via SSH as ubuntu. The recommended security group allows SSH (TCP 22) only from private RFC 1918 ranges, never the internet; set your admin network range at launch. This AMI requires IMDSv2-compatible instance metadata settings at launch. Documentation: https://stigready.com/applied . Request the per-version evidence bundle (OpenSCAP reports, POA&M, SBOM, CVE scan) from support@stigready.com . To meet the STIG/CIS boot loader, root and sudo password requirements on your instance, run sudo stigready-set-credentials after first login (AWS Marketplace policy does not allow these passwords to ship in the AMI). Host firewall (STIG UBTU-24-600200): ufw allows only SSH inbound, rate-limited: a source opening 6 or more SSH connections in 30 seconds is refused, and refused attempts count. For automation such as Ansible, use SSH multiplexing (ControlPersist). Adjust with sudo ufw allow or sudo ufw limit.
