Overview
It's all in the planning. Email migrations require careful planning to ensure a successful outcome. Insufficient preparation could result in a loss of data (missing email, contacts, calendars, etc), an extended offline user experience or a host of other issues.
Smooth email migrations take time, skill, and careful planning.
To assist you we offer a pre-migration discovery service. Our service is designed to gather all relevant information, identify potential issues and to provide you with guidance for the migration planning and delivery. We have migrated millions of mailboxes over two decades and understand the common pitfalls.
Our service will provide you with:
- A high-level plan of the steps required
- Accurate costs
- Expected timeframes and work effort
The outcome is to enable you to understand the costs, timeline and to identify any critical pre work required before attempting a migration.
We Focus on the Detail
Our specialist email migration engineers will work closely with you and your team to collate all the required information. Typically, we will connect remotely and securely via SSH and work through a comprehensive set of data requirements. This includes but not limited to:
- Current architecture
- Exim (or other MTA)
- Dovecot (or other IMAP and POP server) and Mailstore formats
- DAV, IMAP, POP, SMTP services
- Webmail & third-party email clients, authentication, access protocols, ports & endpoints
- DNS
- SSL certs and other security
- Email, contacts, calendars and tasks formats, quotas and Class of Service
- Current usage and growth strategy
The Result
We will provide you with a discovery report detailing the above information as well as anything else which needs to be considered. Importantly, issues which require follow-up or areas of concern will be highlighted. The report will typically be presented to you via a scheduled meeting so we can discuss and further refine the report to it’s final state.
Cost
We deliver our pre-migration discovery service as a fixed price outcome. We aim to have the service completed within 2 weeks from commencement.
