Overview
Building Knowledge and Plans for your VMware Strategy
Understand the value that EVS could bring to your VMware workload strategy. Based on a native VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) platform and located within your existing AWS Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), EVS provides a robust and scalable solution for hosting VMware workloads on AWS. Gain early insight of organisational and technical readiness factors critical to implementation and migration success. This Readiness Assessment focuses on your current VMware landscape and dependencies to secure use cases, roadmap and stakeholder support.
Accelerate your strategy for running VMware workloads on Amazon
Prepare your organisation for the journey to Amazon Elastic VMware Service with a robust plan for the adoption and management of VMware Cloud Foundation within the AWS ecosystem. Assess your current estate, skills and operational practices, ensuring that success criteria are clearly understood and prioritised.
What is in the Readiness Assessment for Elastic VMware Services?
This structured engagement covers the following areas (subject to limitations and change prior to EVS General Availability):
- Collation and playback of your existing VMware portfolio, architecture and supporting infrastructure (including storage, backup and DR capabilities)
- Summary view of existing licensing, support subscriptions and utilisation
- Dedicated storage assessment
- Skills assessment and readiness for transition to a VCF operating model (particularly if migrating from vSphere or alternate virtualisation architecture)
- High level assessment of existing AWS VPC environment and potential landing zone requirements
- High level sizing and pricing of potential EVS architecture
- Recommendations, next steps and key roadmap milestones
Delivering a successful assessment
Full value from this Readiness Assessment is unlocked when both parties are fully engaged in the process which includes the following activities:
- Meetings and workshops attended by key technical and business stakeholders responsible for current VMware environment and AWS Virtual Private Cloud (where deployed)
- Data collated from existing environment including technical configuration and licensing (may require installation of software)
- Analysis and validation of data, definition of future scenarios, impacts and implications
- Identification of key areas of customer’s technical and operational risks around their current VMware estate
- Assessing risk and compliance benefits of migration
Following this process, Xtravirt will provide a consolidated Readiness Assessment report which can also be summarised and delivered as an in-person or online presentation.
