    Overview

MongoDB® is a general-purpose, document-based, distributed database built for modern application developers and for the cloud era.

MongoDB® is a document-oriented database, which means it stores data in JSON-like documents. We believe this is the most natural way to think about data and is much more expressive and powerful than the traditional row/column model.

It is a true data platform with a comprehensive suite of tools to make working with data remarkably easy for everyone, from developers to analysts to data scientists.

MongoDB® solution offers the flexible document model along with ad hoc queries, indexing, and real-time aggregation to provide powerful ways to access and analyze your data. As a distributed system you get high availability through built-in replication and failover along with horizontal scalability with native sharding.

    Highlights

    • Rich and expressive query language that allows you to filter and sort by any field, no matter how nested it may be within a document.
    • Support for aggregations and other modern use-cases such as geo-based search, graph search, and text search.
    • Queries are themselves JSON, and thus easily composable. No more concatenating strings to dynamically generate SQL queries.

MongoDB 4.4 on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS is seamless and performant

    Reviewed on Oct 26, 2021
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
MongoDB has always worked seamlessly on Linux and BSD based operating systems, I far prefer to use it on an OS like Ubuntu 20.04 LTS than a Windows based machine.
What do you dislike about the product?
You will often have to update the apt source to get the latest version you want, which can be easy to forget. Be sure you are getting the version you want before committing to the install.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
MongoDB is working well on Ubuntu 20.04 and is very performant and easy to maintain.
