Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for running Piwigo on Ubuntu, billed per EC2 instance type you choose. The 21 options are all AWS instance sizes, not feature tiers. Each maps to a different mix of compute, memory, and CPU. The t2 and t3 families offer burstable general-purpose compute across nano, micro, small, medium, large, xlarge, and 2xlarge sizes. The m3, m4, and m5 large options give balanced compute. The c3, c4, and c5 large options focus on CPU. The r3, r4, and r5 large options add memory. Your hourly rate scales with the instance's resources.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
You are charged for each hour your selected EC2 instance runs the Piwigo software. One unit equals one running instance-hour. The rate is fixed to the instance size you pick. Partial hours are metered by AWS according to standard usage rules. Different instance types carry different hourly rates.
The hourly software fee meters running time only. A stopped or fully powered-off instance does not accrue the software charge. You may still pay underlying AWS fees for attached storage while the instance is stopped. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type. To change compute, memory, or CPU, you stop the instance and relaunch on a different supported type. Your hourly rate then follows the new instance size. Switching is manual, not automatic. Vendor support can assist with deployment questions.
