This lightweight and secure Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10.1 image is built from the official Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10.1 ISO image, stripped down to include only the essential packages and required AWS software to make it integrate seamlessly into the AWS infrastructure (AWS CLI, Elastic Network Adapter & NVMe drivers). This results in a minimal image that is fast to boot, reduces storage requirements, and optimizes system responsiveness. The image is updated with the latest security patches and updates, providing protection against known vulnerabilities and ensuring the stability and reliability of your server environment. Also Red Hat Update Infrastructure is configured and ready to use without the need of a RedHat subscription or high costs of data traffic over the internet package installation and updates. Other features: key based authentication with 'ec2-user' username, cloud-init and SELinux enabled, root login disabled, automatic root disk resize based on the instance volume configuration. Each unit is one running EC2 instance of the named ARM64 (Graviton) type, billed per hour. The image is a minimal RHEL 10.1 EUS installation with a single expandable volume, SELinux enabled, and cloud-init configured. You must launch it on ARM64-based instance families, not x86.
Hourly software charges apply only while an instance runs. A stopped or powered-off instance stops accruing the software fee. Underlying AWS storage for the attached volume may still cost you, but the RHEL software meter counts running hours only.

- Username provisioned inside is: 'ec2-user'
- Use the SSH key provided at the launch of the instance
- Run 'sudo su -' to get a root prompt

Check the health and functionality of the virtual machine you have just launched:
- Go to your Amazon EC2 console and ensure you are in the correct region
- Select 'Instances' from the left menu and click on the newly launched instance
