You pay by the hour for a ready-to-run PostgreSQL image on Windows Server 2025 Datacenter. Pricing scales with the EC2 instance size you choose. Each dimension maps to a specific instance type across several families. The t2, t3, and t3a families cover burstable general-purpose sizes, from nano through 2xlarge. The m3, m4, m5, m5a, m5ad, m5d, m5dn, and m5n families cover larger general-purpose sizes, up to 24xlarge and bare-metal options. Larger instances offer more CPU, memory, and networking, so hourly cost rises with capacity. You run the software only as long as needed.

The hourly software charge meters running time only. A stopped or powered-off instance does not accrue software charges. You may still pay underlying AWS storage fees for the attached disk while the instance is stopped. Start it again to resume software billing.
