AILA - Insurance Underwriting

AILA Insurance Underwriting addresses the operational problems that block underwriting at scale — processing delays, manual document review, inconsistent decisions, regulatory compliance gaps — through an AWS-native solution built on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, Knowledge Bases (RAG with Amazon S3 Vector storage), and specialized FSI agents prebuilt in the AILA catalog.

Three integrated components accelerate submission-to-bind:

(1) Underwriting Workbench UI — modern React interface, interactive document viewer, conversational AI assistant, decision-support recommendations, SSO.

(2) Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) — multi-format support, dual processing routes (autonomous S3 upload + interactive UI upload), dynamic classification, structured extraction, multi-document submission management with automatic linking.

(3) Risk Assessment Agents — an operational underwriting agent with 10 specialized skills (submission receipt, document classification, data extraction, completeness check, property risk analysis, liability risk analysis, pricing, terms & conditions, quote issuance, complete workflow); a read-only knowledge agent covering 18 regulatory domains (including FCA ICOBS, UK Building Regulations, HSE construction safety, Environment Agency flood zones); and a code-engineering specialist for PySpark transformations, actuarial calculations, and risk scoring.

Add-on architecture — non-invasive. Existing PAS, CRM, and MDM systems remain authoritative; agents operate in an isolated WIP store; approved changes promote through structured Policy Facade interfaces. No modifications to core systems required.

Human-in-the-loop by construction. Confidence thresholds route low-confidence cases to manual review; underwriters can override or modify any agent recommendation; immutable audit trail records every decision, every evidence reference, and the full reasoning chain for regulator and internal-audit review. The AI surfaces, analyses, and recommends; the human underwriter approves.
