Top-of-mind questions for buyers
You pay for support of your AlmaLinux 8 virtual machine, not the compute itself. Each product includes a support team to help you launch and resolve issues. Every VM is audited and tested against security controls before use. The support charge bills per hour alongside your AWS compute.
The support charge meters running hours. When an instance is fully powered off, the hourly support charge stops accruing. Stopped instances may still incur separate AWS storage fees, but those are billed by AWS, not by this support product. You pay only for the hours each instance runs.
Each running instance bills its own hourly support rate based on its type. The charges add together on your invoice. Larger memory, compute, storage, and GPU instances carry higher hourly rates. If you run many instances, total support cost is the sum of every running instance's rate.

Usage instructions
Connecting to your instance
After launching your supported AlmaLinux 8 instance, the recommended connection method is AWS Systems Manager Session Manager SSM. This provides a secure and fully managed way to access the instance without opening inbound ports. Detailed instructions are available at https://docs.aws.amazon.com/systems-manager/latest/userguide/session-manager.html
If you choose to connect with SSH, use the default username ec2-user along with your private key file and the instance public IP address. Connect on port 22 using the format:
ssh -i /path/to/your-key.pem ec2-user@public-ip-address

Security recommendations
Avoid exposing your instance directly to the public internet. If SSH access is required, restrict your security group to trusted IP addresses only.
