A clean Ansible control node in your AWS account. ansible-core 2.21.4 in a pinned Python 3.12 environment with two pinned collections, a localhost inventory and an example playbook, ready for your own playbooks and remote hosts over SSH.
Run Ansible from a clean, pinned control node. This image installs ansible-core 2.21.4 in its own Python 3.12 virtual environment with the ansible.posix and ansible.utils collections, a localhost inventory, an example playbook and a vault password created on first boot.
Launch the approved version on t3.medium with at least 16 GiB encrypted root storage and at least 2 GiB RAM. Connect with AWS Systems Manager as ubuntu or restrict SSH to your administrative CIDR. First boot writes ansible.cfg, hosts and a vault password file; nothing sensitive is baked into the image. ansible-core does not listen on a TCP port and does not start playbooks automatically. There is no AWX or web UI. Keep credentials out of recordings and tickets.
The standard software fee is described in the AWS Marketplace offer terms. EC2, EBS and data-transfer charges are billed separately. See the offer terms for applicable billing promotions.
After launch, wait for cloud-init to finish, then follow the bundled README for configuration, backup and day-2 operations.
Reach it from other machines: To manage other machines, add them to /etc/ansible/hosts with ansible_python_interpreter=/usr/bin/python3, put their SSH key in the ubuntu user's ~/.ssh and allow this instance to reach them on port 22. The instance accepts no inbound service connections.
This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for independent AWS packaging, validation, maintenance and setup documentation. The Ansible project publishes ansible-core under GPL-3.0-or-later; Software Sushi supplies the AMI recipe, digest-pinned PyPI wheel, pinned ansible.posix and ansible.utils collections, first-boot localhost inventory, and setup documentation without claiming upstream endorsement.

This listing uses one pricing dimension: an hourly software fee tied to the t3.medium EC2 instance. You pay that fee for each hour the instance runs. There are no tiers or separate add-ons to choose from. The software charge is the only Marketplace cost. AWS bills EC2 compute, EBS storage, and data transfer separately. Pricing scales simply with runtime: stop the instance to stop the software fee, start it again to resume.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I get when I run the t3.medium hourly plan?
You get a hardened image running ansible-core 2.21.4 in a Python virtual environment. It includes pinned collections, a localhost inventory, standard Ansible commands, a vault password, and an example playbook. The recommended setup uses an encrypted gp3 root volume of at least 16 GiB and 2 GiB of memory.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or powered off?
The hourly software fee applies only while the instance runs. Stop the instance and the software charge stops too. Note that stopped instances may still incur AWS storage fees for the attached EBS volume, which AWS bills separately from this software charge.
What costs are not covered by the hourly software fee?
The software fee does not include AWS infrastructure. AWS bills EC2 compute, EBS storage, and data transfer separately. You also provide your own credentials and vault password after launch, since nothing secret is baked into the image. No external service accounts are included.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
