    Oracle DB migration

     Info
    Sold by: CloudZone
CloudZone’s unique Oracle DB migration methodology enables enterprise & public sector clients to move DB workload from On-premises to AWS Cloud by either a homogenous to a public cloud-based VMs fleet or A heterogeneous migration by completing the full cycle and migrating to a managed public cloud-based Database. This unique methodology, based on the unique knowledge and expertise in the DB arena, will perform deployment from On-Premises to AWS and mitigate most DB lift-to-cloud challenges.

    Overview

Managing large DB installation on prem is a complex effort. You perform capacity planning ahead of time, projecting the amount of compute and storage resources you plan to exploit. you handle several service providers for infrastructure, DB application and security tools.

Matrix CloudZone’s unique Oracle DB migration process will define both, the system deployment and data migration, taking into consideration replication, data synchronization, data security and SLA. In vast majority of cases, the database migration to cloud process is a part of an application migration challenge. However, since the database is “where the information lives”, defining the application state, it has its own challenges and needs to be addressed separately.

    The Oracle DB migration journey

Assessment The first step of database lift-to-cloud migration is a assessment, covering most relevant aspects. Licenses and options in use, performance requirements and current loads, high availability and Disaster Recovery requirements and current state (such as MTBF, MTTR, RPO, RTO, etc.) Security requirements (such as authentication, authorization, audit, encryption, interfaces with security systems, etc. Application infrastructure (e.g., existence of local and external stored procedures, Java stored procedures, custom packages, off-database scripts, etc.) Data size, data retention and data tiering Database configuration (such as database version, special parameters, rare hotfixes) Data interfaces and batch jobs (such as ETL processes) External database connectivity (replication interfaces, database links, etc.) Migration constraints (such as downtime windows, hybrid mode requirements, unidirectional/ bidirectional replication with or without conflict resolution)

Lift & Shift We adopt the cloud with a simless migration, Lift & Shift with no Application changes. During this phase, we focus mostly on infrastructure aspects, such as IaaS vs RDS, storage, network, security, backups / recovery, connectivity, high availability

Modernization During this phase, we offer application transparent (or easy to implement) changes and improvements that may either provide new capabilities or reduce costs. For example, we may propose to extract historical data from RDBMS to S3 and use Athena for querying historical data. Thus, we may both cut on Oracle license and maintenance costs and provide the end user new analytical capabilities. Right Sizing of the migrated Oracle DB to reduce costs Build Modernization RoadMap to reduce the cost and improve business KPIs and improve scalability.

    Highlights

    • The Oracle DB migration process, as developed according to AWS best practices will start with an assessment effort of our cloud readiness to proceed with leveraging the public cloud capabilities, and will allow you to end up with a DB freedom state.
    • DB Freedom – your Database is a fully managed service of your public cloud environment, you utilize state-of-the-art DB capabilities while maintaining excellent performance and advanced analytics tools on your DB. This solution is fully managed by AWS with shared responsibility for your data security.
