What do I get for the hourly rate on each instance dimension?
Each dimension runs Windows Server 2025 Core on the matching Amazon EC2 instance type you select. You get the operating system in its minimal, no-desktop form. You manage it through PowerShell or the SCONFIG tool. The instance's CPU, memory, and storage match that EC2 instance type's published specification.
Am I charged when my instance is stopped?
The software charge meters running instance-hours. When you stop an instance, the hourly software charge stops. Underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes may still apply while the instance is stopped. You resume paying the hourly rate only when the instance runs again.
How does my hourly cost change if I move to a larger instance type?
Cost is set by the single instance type you run at any time. Each dimension carries its own hourly rate, and larger instances carry higher rates. Switching to a different instance type changes your rate for the hours that instance runs. There is no upfront commitment or tier upgrade step.
