See AWS Free Tier for more details. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance size you run this software on. Each dimension maps to a specific instance type, so your rate scales with the compute resources you choose. The general-purpose families (t2, t3, t3a, m3, m4, m5, m5a, m5d, m5ad, m5n, m5dn) range from small burstable sizes like nano and micro up to large multi-core and metal instances. Larger instances carry higher hourly rates because they offer more CPU and memory. You have no upfront commitment. Billing stops when you stop the instance. Vendor support is included.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit cover for this software?
Each hourly unit covers one running EC2 instance of the type you select. You are billed for every hour that instance runs. The rate reflects the CPU and memory of that instance type. Vendor support for the operating system is included in the hourly rate you pay.
Am I charged when I stop or shut down the instance?
Software charges accrue only while the instance runs. When you stop the instance, hourly software billing stops. There is no upfront commitment, so you pay for running time only. Note that stopped instances may still incur separate AWS storage fees for attached volumes, which are billed by AWS.
How do I pick which instance dimension to run and connect to it?
You choose the EC2 instance type that matches your workload, then launch it. After launch, find the instance IP in your AWS account and connect over SSH using a private key. Log in with the ec2-user account. Larger instance types provide more CPU and memory at a higher hourly rate.
