Klika Tech Medical Device Connectivity & Embedded Engineering

     Info
    Sold by: Klika Tech
Klika Tech Medical Device Connectivity & Embedded Engineering helps manufacturers securely connect new and legacy health devices to AWS without rebuilding connectivity, provisioning, and update capabilities for every product. The service supports devices such as wearable monitors, smart medication dispensers, remote patient monitoring equipment, and laboratory or clinical systems through embedded firmware, companion applications, gateways, unique device identities, signed OTA updates, and BLE, Wi-Fi, cellular, LoRaWAN, or Amazon Sidewalk connectivity. Using AWS IoT Core, AWS IoT Device Management, and AWS IoT Device Defender, Klika Tech creates a scalable foundation for secure messaging, fleet security, and device lifecycle operations, helping manufacturers reduce cybersecurity and integration risk, avoid costly field updates, accelerate connected-product launches, and hand device data off to their chosen cloud platform.

    Overview

Klika Tech Medical Device Connectivity & Embedded Engineering is a professional services offering for manufacturers and life sciences organizations developing connected-health products, from general-wellness devices to regulated medical equipment. Klika Tech addresses the “first mile” between the device and AWS by delivering embedded firmware, companion applications, edge gateways, secure device identity, fleet provisioning, OTA updates, and multi-network connectivity. The offering supports devices such as wearable monitors, smart medication dispensers and docks, remote patient monitoring equipment, laboratory instruments, and legacy clinical systems. By replacing one-off connectivity work with reusable device-to-cloud patterns, manufacturers can accelerate product launches, modernize existing equipment, reduce costly field servicing, and establish a secure foundation for future digital-health services.

Each engagement begins with compliance and data-classification scoping so the firmware, connectivity stack, and transport channels reflect the device’s intended use and data profile. Patient-linked clinical data can be routed through mutually authenticated, TLS-encrypted IP connections using Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or cellular, while de-identified device-operational data such as battery status, uptime, and error codes can use low-power options including LoRaWAN and Amazon Sidewalk. PHI is not routed over shared community networks such as Amazon Sidewalk. Where clinical data must travel over LoRaWAN, Klika Tech can design a private, customer-controlled network architecture using AWS IoT Core for LoRaWAN. Firmware may be implemented using Zephyr or FreeRTOS and the AWS IoT Device SDK for constrained devices, while AWS IoT Greengrass supports Linux-class gateways, intelligent equipment, local processing, and protocol translation for serial, Modbus, and vendor-specific systems. Companion mobile applications can also provide secure BLE provisioning and gateway functionality. When connectivity is unavailable, encrypted store-and-forward patterns can preserve data until a secure connection is restored.

Klika Tech implements device identity and lifecycle controls using per-device X.509 certificates, AWS IoT fleet provisioning, certificate rotation and revocation, signed firmware, AWS IoT Jobs, Greengrass deployments, and AWS IoT Device Defender fleet-security audits. Delivery can be performed within the manufacturer’s quality management system and design controls, including ISO 13485 and IEC 62304 processes where applicable to the device’s classification. The connectivity layer terminates in AWS IoT Core and hands data off through AWS IoT Rules to the customer’s existing AWS environment, a third-party health-data platform, or Klika Tech’s complementary Connected Healthcare & Medical Device Telemetry Platform. Depending on scope, this offering relates to AWS IoT Core, AWS IoT Core for LoRaWAN, AWS IoT Device Management, AWS IoT Jobs, AWS IoT Device Defender, AWS IoT Greengrass, AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, AWS CloudFormation, AWS CloudTrail, AWS KMS, Amazon CloudWatch, Amazon Sidewalk, and related AWS services. When PHI is in scope, customers must use HIPAA-eligible AWS services under an appropriate Business Associate Addendum and fulfill their responsibilities for compliant configuration and operation. AWS infrastructure consumption is billed separately from this professional services engagement and remains the customer’s responsibility.
