Prostate cancer is a type of cancer that develops in the prostate gland, a small walnut-shaped organ located below the bladder in the male reproductive system. The exact cause of prostate cancer is unknown.
Risk factors that may increase the likelihood of cancer are age (most common in men over 65), family history, race (african american men have a higher risk), and hormonal imbalance.
Overview
PSMA PET (Positron Emission Tomography) Scan: This imaging test uses a radioactive tracer that binds to PSMA. The scan can detect prostate cancer cells throughout the body, including small tumors that may have been missed by other imaging methods.
Datasets include: Confirmed Prostate cancer with pharmaceuticals 68Ga-PSMA11 or 18F-DCFPyL, or 18F-rhPSMA7.3. PSMA PET CT with 10% of cases with liver lesions, 10% of cases with lung lesions, 5% cases with adrenal gland metastases.
