Overview
HydraAudit Observability AMI packages the configured Hydra application, local Redis, Prometheus, Grafana and a TLS entry point in the buyer AWS account. It provides an operational workspace for the included application metrics. It is not a universal verifier of all event truth, a billing dashboard, or a cryptographic proof of regulatory compliance.
First boot creates per-instance API credentials, a Grafana administrator password and a bootstrap certificate. Use trusted administrative access to pin or replace that certificate, change the Grafana password on first use, restrict the API to approved clients and access monitoring UIs by private port forwarding. No seller account, hosted API, second product purchase or seller-controlled activation is required for the included workflow.
The image uses local single-instance state. Existing launch/reboot evidence verifies application and monitoring health, Prometheus scraping and retention of a Redis test key; it does not establish persistence of every application audit event during Redis failure, high availability, or protection against privileged rollback. Backups, capacity, customer retention and restore testing are buyer operations. No MemoryDB, external retention service or multi-node cluster is automatically created.
EC2, EBS and buyer-enabled AWS services have separate AWS charges. Follow the version-specific operation guide for launch, local health checks, credentials, private dashboard access and troubleshooting.
Highlights
- Customer-local application metrics with configured Prometheus/Grafana and TLS API
- Unique firstboot credentials; private monitoring access and buyer-managed trust
- Single-instance local state with documented capacity, retention and recovery boundaries

64-bit (x86) Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
Version release notes
Customer-operated single-instance application metrics workspace with local Prometheus/Grafana, TLS API, firstboot credentials and local state. Existing image retained; documentation clarifies setup, access, health and backup responsibilities. No HA or immutable-audit guarantee.

Usage instructions
- Launch this Ubuntu24.04 AMI in your AWS account using ubuntu and a listed c6i.xlarge/m6i.xlarge or sufficient instance. Attach a customer-owned SSM role if using Systems Manager and allow SSM endpoint connectivity. Otherwise restrict SSH22 to your administrator /32. 2. Restrict TLS8443 to approved API client CIDRs in the security group and host firewall; keep8082,9082,9090 and3000 private/loopback. Run sudo systemctl show hydra-audit-bootstrap.service -p Result -p ExecMainStatus, then sudo systemctl is-active hydra-audit-redis hydra-audit-server nginx prometheus grafana-server. A completed bootstrap oneshot may be inactive. 3. First boot creates a unique API token at /etc/hydra/hydra.env and Grafana password at /etc/hydra-audit/grafana.env. Retrieve only inside an authorized private administrative session; never send credentials to the seller. Change the Grafana admin password on first use. Pin /etc/hydra-audit/tls/tls.crt through a trusted channel or replace it with a buyer certificate before remote client use. 4. Verify local TLS /health on8443 using that trusted certificate and curl --cacert, not disabled TLS verification. Check local Prometheus /-/healthy on9090, Grafana /api/health on3000 and the Prometheus target. Forward local Grafana3000 with SSM instead of public ingress. Health endpoints do not themselves authenticate clients; protected API calls use the generated Bearer token. 5. Inspect installed units for the configured local state paths and test buyer backup/restore and capacity. Redis test-key persistence does not guarantee every audit event or high availability. No second product subscription or seller activation is required. Full steps, commands and troubleshooting: https://kenosian.com/docs/marketplace/hydraaudit.html .
