RUBICONSmartCity (TM) helps city governments run waste and recycling operations more efficiently and turns garbage trucks into mobile data sensing assets.
RUBICONSmartCity (TM) helps city governments run waste and recycling operations faster, smarter, and more effectively. Through our patented technology, our smartphone app tracks metrics such as vehicle location, route completion and service confirmations in real time. It empowers drivers to document important information like blocked bins, contaminated recycling, and other issues. All of this information is fed directly back to a secure website for supervisors and dispatchers to evaluate and assess issues in real time. The features include:
-Service Confirmations (for all truck types, with exact time and location, without human interaction)
-Vehicle Tracking (Automatic Vehicle Location AVL GPS)
-Navigation (turn by turn directions to specific points, disposal facilities, and a return to route)
-Driver Information (hours, miles driven)
-Vehicle Information, Safety and Maintenance (including speeding and hard driving)
-Real Time Route Management
-Integration (RFID, CRM / 311, Cameras)
-Waste Collection Route Issue / Incident Identification (including taking pictures, flagging locations, etc.)
-Urban Data Collection (including air quality sensing, pothole detection, vacant home cataloging, etc.)
Our technology currently powers waste and recycling data collection for more than 20 cities, including Atlanta, Santa Fe, and Columbus, GA. In just one of these cities, we identified potential savings of over $700,000 and diverted 355 tons of material from landfill.

AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on the duration and terms of your contract with the vendor. This entitles you to a specified quantity of use for the contract duration. If you choose not to renew or replace your contract before it ends, access to these entitlements will expire.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
This contract pricing has two separate components you combine into one agreement. The first is a flat fee tied to the number of service locations you cover, sized for 1 to 20,000 locations. You enter 1 to select it, and the fee reflects your location count. The second is a per-truck charge, where you enter the total number of trucks in your fleet. Your cost scales with fleet size on this component. Together, these dimensions let you match pricing to both your site footprint and your vehicle count under a single contract.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as one location for the flat fee component?
A location is a service site where waste and recycling pickup happens. The flat fee covers your total number of these sites, sized for 1 to 20,000 locations. You enter 1 to select this component, and the fee reflects your location count rather than a per-site multiplier you enter yourself.
How do the flat fee and per-truck charges combine on my bill?
Both components bill together under one contract. The flat fee is fixed to your service location count. The per-truck charge multiplies by the number of trucks you enter. You add these two amounts for your total. Fleet size drives the per-truck portion, while location count drives the flat portion.
What counts as one truck for the per-truck charge?
A truck is one vehicle in your waste and recycling fleet. You enter the total number of trucks you operate. The charge applies per vehicle, so the count you enter directly sets that portion of your cost. More trucks raise the per-truck component of your bill.
