AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
The software itself is free, so you pay only for the AWS compute you run it on. You choose from three EC2 instance types, each billed by the hour: t3.xlarge, m6i.xlarge, and m5.xlarge. These are not feature tiers. Each option delivers the same multi-factor authentication software but on different underlying hardware with different processor families and performance profiles. Your hourly rate depends on which instance you select. You can match the instance to your performance and capacity needs, and your total cost scales with how many hours you keep it running.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I get for each hourly instance, and how is a billed hour counted?
Each option runs the same authentication software on an AWS EC2 instance you provision. The t3.xlarge, m6i.xlarge, and m5.xlarge differ in processor family and performance. You are billed per hour the instance runs. Partial hours and total cost depend on how long you keep it active.
Am I charged when I stop or pause the instance?
Software charges meter running time only, so a fully stopped instance stops accruing the hourly software rate. You may still owe underlying AWS fees, such as storage for the volume, while the instance is stopped. Restarting the instance resumes the hourly charge.
Does switching between the three instance types change the authentication features I receive?
No. All three options deliver the same multi-factor authentication software, including biometric, one-time passcode, and FIDO-based methods. They are not feature tiers. Only the underlying hardware and hourly rate differ, so you can match the instance to your capacity needs without losing features.

CloudFormation Template (CFT)
AWS CloudFormation templates are JSON or YAML-formatted text files that simplify provisioning and management on AWS. The templates describe the service or application architecture you want to deploy, and AWS CloudFormation uses those templates to provision and configure the required services (such as Amazon EC2 instances or Amazon RDS DB instances). The deployed application and associated resources are called a "stack."
