You pay by the hour for this hardened Rocky Linux 8 image, billed per running EC2 instance. Pricing is not tiered. Instead, each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance type, from small general-purpose sizes to large compute, memory, storage, GPU, and bare-metal options. Your hourly rate scales with the instance type you choose, since larger instances carry more CPU, memory, and resources. You select the instance type that fits your workload, and the software charge applies on top of standard AWS infrastructure costs. Billing stops when you stop the instance.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does the hourly software charge cover, and what remains separate on my AWS bill?
The hourly rate covers the hardened Rocky Linux 8 image and its premium support. You also pay standard AWS infrastructure costs for the EC2 instance, storage, and data transfer. These appear separately. The software charge meters only while the instance runs.
Am I charged the software fee when an instance is stopped or powered off?
The hourly software charge applies only while the instance runs. Stopped or powered-off instances stop accruing the software fee. Attached storage may still incur standard AWS fees, but the software license meters running time only.
What does "hardened" mean for this Rocky Linux 8 image, and what stays my responsibility?
The hardened build applies operating-system configuration aligned to the stated DISA STIG profile, maintained with updates. The vendor supports the published image layer. Your team owns the surrounding architecture, applications, identity, networks, data, and compliance decisions for the complete system.
