Hands-On Labs (6+ Progressive Exercises)
Participants complete at least six instructor-guided labs that build toward a complete serverless application:
- Deploying a Simple Serverless Application - Create an HTTP API integrated with AWS Lambda
- Message Fan-Out with Amazon EventBridge - Build an EventBridge bus and routing rules
- Configuring and Testing Lambda Functions - Apply coding best practices, versions, and aliases
- Workflow Orchestration with AWS Step Functions - Build and troubleshoot state machine workflows
- Observability and Monitoring - Implement CloudWatch Logs, metrics, alarms, and X-Ray tracing
- Securing Serverless Applications - Apply security controls to APIs, functions, and data stores
- Serverless CI/CD on AWS - Configure automated deployment pipelines
Real-World Application
The course builds a complete event-driven application throughout all three days - similar to an order processing pipeline where events trigger Lambda functions, messages fan out through EventBridge, workflows orchestrate multi-step processes via Step Functions, and the entire stack deploys through an automated CI/CD pipeline. This mirrors production serverless architectures used in e-commerce, fintech, and SaaS platforms.
Course Structure
Day 1: Serverless fundamentals, API-driven development, authentication with Amazon Cognito, deployment frameworks (SAM, CDK, CloudFormation, Amplify), event-driven patterns with EventBridge and SNS, queues and streams.
Day 2: Lambda best practices (error handling, logging, layers, concurrency, memory optimization), workflow orchestration with Step Functions, observability and monitoring with CloudWatch and X-Ray.
Day 3: Serverless security best practices, handling scale (API Gateway scaling, Lambda concurrency), CI/CD automation with AWS developer tools. Course concludes with a fully deployed, secured, and monitored serverless application with an automated pipeline.
Lab Environment and Data Handling
Each participant receives an isolated lab environment provisioned specifically for the training session. Lab environments are decommissioned after the course concludes. Participant information collected during enrollment is handled in accordance with Cloud Wizard Consulting's data protection policies.
